Center for Civic Innovation: Art and Creativity as a Vehicle for Social Justice and Civic Innovation

Atlanta is no stranger to powerful and transformative art; you can see the impact of the city’s creativity around the world. Art is not just a form of entertainment, it is also an incredible tool for conversation and neighborhood development.

On Monday May 9th, join us as we chat with three social entrepreneurs with startup organizations here in Atlanta that use art as a vehicle to break down walls (or in some cases, to bring those walls to life!). Malika Whitley brings art-based programs to homeless youth in Atlanta. Alex Acosta uses hip hop cyphers as a tool for healing, writing, and dialogue. Each of these individuals turn art into an opportunity to serve, and without them, Atlanta would be a very different place.

Panelists include:

Malika Whitley, Chop Art
Alex Acosta, Soul Food Cypher
And one additional speaker to be announced soon

Moderated by: Rohit Malhotra, Center for Civic Innovation
